Choosing an Accountant
A few points about choosing an accountant, which the members of the
CPA firm of McGoldrick & McGoldrick believe all prospective clients
should consider before making choices:
|
|
What should you look for in an accounting firm?
You, as a business principal, should look for more than one thing in an accounting firm, but fundamentally you need-
A CPA on staff- You can have confidence in the advice you’re being given based on sound training.
A local office- for quick service and fast answers.
A related client base- for your comfort in knowing that your accountant has solved problems similar to yours.
|
|
How big a firm should you hire?
If you're over $200 million in sales you need one of the "sisters"-
long established firms with dozens of partners and hundreds of
employees. If you’re within the range of startup to medium size, then
you shouldn’t pay for such overhead. You can obtain the same quality of
performance with a smaller firm at a cost you can afford.
The CPA team of Ruth and Tom McGoldrick back up one another on phone calls and personal visits.
Our clients generally fit into the category of startup businesses to small corporations with sales up to 10 million.
|
|
How Much should I pay?
Hourly rates- so you can adjust your demands to your cashflow.
Fixed retainer fee- we can agree on what tasks are needed over the
year, and the McGoldrick & McGoldrick firm will bill you in 12
equal installments.
Fixed retainers are particularly useful to small businesses that need to manage their cash carefully.
